The park is also unique place for camping, trekking and sightseeing. Mountains, cliffs and valleys within the park present good opportunities for sightseeing, trekking, hiking and camping. The park is excellent for outdoor activities and treks and hikes are organized by authorities and qualified guides in the tourist season………..
National park is an area which is strictly reserved for the betterment of the wildlife & biodiversity, and where activities like developmental, forestry, poaching, hunting and grazing on cultivation are not permitted. Their boundaries are well marked and circumscribed.

Intanki National Park

Intanki National Park is a beautiful place, located in the Peren district of the state of Nagaland. Intanki National Park also known as Ntangki National park. The name “Ntangki” is derived from the Zeme dialect of the Zeliangrong tribe.

It was declared as a national park in the year of 1993. Total area of the park is 202.02 Km2. In 2005, the park was also declared an elephant reserve by the government. Intanki National Park, one of the finest wildlife protected areas of Nagaland.

The park is made up of thick rain forests making a perfect habitat for all types of mammals, birds, reptiles and insects.

History

Deputy Commissioner of Naga Hills, J.H. Hutton proposed creation of a reserve forest at Ntangki- Dhansiri Valley in 1920 and sought for land.

After all kinds of formalities and procedure in 1975 the government declared the Ntangki Reserved Forest comprising an area of 202.02 Km2 as wild life sanctuary, and named it as Ntangki Wildlife Sanctuary.

Intanki Wildlife sanctuary was declared as a National Park in the year of 1993. Intanki National park was also declared as an elephant reserve on February 2, 2005.

Geography

Intanki National Park is located in the Dimapur district of the state of Nagaland. The park has a large number of mountains & hills and the altitude of the place ranges around 677m.

The Intanki National Park in Nagaland consists of vast stretches of equatorial forest and grasslands. Some parts of the national park also have semi tropical and deciduous vegetation.

The national park also consists of beautiful mountains and cliffs which offer excellent scope for trekking and mountain hiking trips.

The topography of the terrain presents, some of the most marvelous and excellent trekking routes and mountain hiking opportunities.

The grasslands and equatorial forests stretched on the land covers the entire portion of Intanki National Park. Entire Park is covered with lush grass and semi tropical tress.
